Information Mary Louise Hunt The Great Smoky Mountains has influenced my artwork since I was a child. I live in the Smokies and find a new appreciation for these grand old mountains every day of the year.I often hike into the Smokies to paint the vantage points that my father, Ed Hunt photographed in the early 1930's as a surveyor. The light, shadows, and color of nature inspire my work. My paintings and pastels recapture the magic that I observe and feel. One of a series expressing movement through time or space, my pastel, “Passage”, represents a figure passing into the forest with her companion dog. She is engulfed with the joy of the surrounding beauty.The three figures on the edge of the clearing mark the bdginning of the passage. Collections of my work are in the United States, Europe, and the Far East. I am also one of the six owners of the Cliff Dwellers Gallery in the Gatlinburg Art & Craft Community.
